Happening this weekend is the 2015 UAAP Cheerdance Competition and to mark this annually awaited event, let us look back to 4 years ago in 2011, when the UP Pep Squad, representing the country’s premier university, delighted the crowd and impressed the judges with a flawless routine perfectly executed to the music of MADONNA.

Madonna is known to reinvent herself and the team can identify with her. Our goal was to reach as many people as possible with our routine and we know we can achieve this through Madonna.

Exhibiting their own blond ambition with their hair bleached blonde as an obvious homage to the Queen of Pop, the Maroons cheerdancers performed their dance and stunts to an amazing megamix of Madonna hits from Material Girl, Vogue, 4 Minutes & Give It 2 Me, to name just a few.

The UP Pep Squad’s exceptional performance allowed them to successfully defend their title and nab their 2nd championship in a row (7th total to date).

As a result of their championship with arguably their most popular and memorable performance in UAAP Cheerdance Competition history, Warner Music Philippines tapped the UP Pep Squad a few months later for a special performance in an album launch for Madonna‘s 2012 album, MDNA. Aside from reprising their UAAP routine, the squad also did a special number of Madonna’s then-latest hits Girl Gone Wild and Give Me All Your Luvin’ at SM Megamall.
