Another Thursday, another Throwback.

This time, let us look back to 19 years ago to this day when the music video for MADONNA‘s first single off the soundtrack of her then-much-awaited movie turn in Evita, You Must Love Me, premiered on MTV.

You must Love Me from khaled on Vimeo.

In probably her most understated music video ever, Madonna simply radiated as she stood behind a piano (to hide her baby bump, being 8 months pregnant with her eldest, Lourdes) singing the song especially written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice for the 1996 film, key scenes of which were also interspersed in the video.

Using her recently trained vocals, Madonna delivered her most delicate, heart-tugging and vulnerable singing with this song that went on to win both the Golden Globes and the Academy Award for Best Original Song the following year.

Then and now… we still MUST love her…
